Manager Program

Case Study

A growing marketing agency with an abundance of new hires in management roles needed guidance on how to be a leader of people.

Overview

A marketing agency approached VIVO for guidance during a period of rapid growth. Their expansion brought an abundance of new hires stepping into first-time management roles. The agency needed a way to equip these emerging leaders with the tools and confidence to succeed.

Challenge

These new leaders were struggling to lead their teams effectively. Without clear guidance or understanding of expectations, they were uncertain how to handle employee relations, provide feedback, and support their team’s development.

VIVO Solution

Using collaborative techniques, we interviewed various key leaders to understand their culture and identify what makes their organization unique. Using VIVO’s proven manager framework and integrating the client’s feedback from these conversations, we developed a customized New Managers Handbook.

This guide combined leadership best practices with the agency’s specific expectations, providing a clear, actionable resource for new leaders. The handbook included:

  • What it means to lead at the agency
  • Core leadership expectations
  • Employee relations FAQs
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Legal responsibilities of managers

The existing leadership team actively collaborated on the development and rollout of the handbook, ensuring the content felt aligned and supportive from the top down.

Result

New managers now had a go-to resource that equipped them to lead with confidence and consistency. The handbook created a shared understanding of what good leadership looks like at the agency, strengthening company culture and overall employee experience.
